Volunteering with “Feed a Family”

Volunteers are an essential part of the “Feed a Family” programme. They ensure that the programme remains cost effective, thereby widening the reaches of the programme and assisting an increasing number of children and youth in our country.

Volunteer at a Meal Packaging Event

A meal packaging event is a fun and engaging way for volunteers to be part of the drive to fight hunger in South Africa. We host regular public meal packaging events during the year at our warehouses, as well as shopping centres and service clubs.  Participation at a public meal packaging event is free, and open to volunteers of all ages (children in grade 5 or lower to be accompanied by an adult). [Are you currently only having public events in Ekurhuleni?]

High School learners earn community service hours whilst having great fun and meeting new friends at our meal packaging events!

Take it a step further: Our Volunteer Ambassador Programme

If you have specific skills and time to contribute on a more regular basis to our “Feed a Family” programme, consider becoming a Volunteer Ambassador.  You will be required to attend one or more training workshops and will need to commit a regular block of time on a monthly basis to the programme.  Volunteer Ambassadors assist with all the activities involved before and after a meal packaging event, as well as assisting in running the event itself.  You will need to be reasonably fit, and willing to assist with carrying ingredients and set-up equipment.  We require Volunteer Ambassadors both at corporate events during the week, and at public events on the weekends.
